For the second day in a row, the emergency room at Slocan Community Health Centre in New Denver is closed due to a nursing shortage.
Interior Health says the ER won’t reopen before 8 a.m. Wednesday. In the meantime patients are being redirected to Arrow Lakes Hospital in Nakusp.
It’s the seventh time in recent months that the facility has been closed. It used to be open round-the-clock, but since July 2022, it has been operating from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
