Updated: Multiple car crash Castlegar

Update: It appears the driver of one of the east bound vehicles did not anticipate slower moving traffic on the highway and rear ended a vehicle in front of them.

This caused a chain reaction of vehicle being pushed into one another with one of the vehicles being pushed into the opposite lane of traffic causing a head on collision.

The highway remained closed until just after 8pm while RCMP continued their investigation which included the attendance of collision reconstructionist.

Castlegar RCMP are continuing their investigation and are asking anyone with information or dash cam footage pertaining the collision to call the RCMP at (250)365-7721.

Update: Highway 3 has been cleared and traffic has returned to normal as of 10pm.

Update: Four people have been taken to hospital following a six-vehicle collision this afternoon on Castlegar’s Kinnaird Bridge, on Highway 3.

The incident is currently under investigation, with the Highway remaining closed, causing further delays throughout Castlegar roads.
