Nakusp RCMP recover stolen quad

An anonymous tip has helped Nakusp RCMP recover a quad a month after it was stolen from a contractor working in the area.

Police say the quad, which had a winter track package installed on it, was reported stolen on March 16. The owner said its replacement value was over $10,000.

Although police looked for it over the next few days, they didn’t have any luck.

However, on Saturday morning they got a tip about its location. An officer went to the spot, found it, and returned it to its owner the same day.

Cpl. Thomas Gill said the owner was “extremely appreciative as the quad is used for his business.”

He called it a “great example of what can be accomplished with the support of the community and the efforts of its citizens on making the area a better place.”

Gill said they have a suspect in mind, but can’t elaborate.
