RCMP say they were called around 4:30 a.m. on Sept. 29 to reports of someone damaging windows and vehicles. Officers quickly identified a suspect and arrested Matthew Leavitt, 30, who remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing. His next court appearance is Oct. 21 in Kelowna.

“The quick identification and arrest of the suspect was made possible through the timely reporting by citizens and the assistance of witnesses who provided information to investigators,” said Staff Sgt. Dave Johnson.

“Addressing these types of disturbances and damage to property with consequences and accountability is a key component of keeping our community safe. Trail RCMP would like to thank the citizens who assisted in identifying and locating the suspect.”
