Three days have been set aside next year for the trial of a Montrose man accused of stabbing his neighbour.
Michael Frederick Stone, who was born in 1957, is charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm. Following a pre-trial conference on Dec. 2, his trial will open in Rossland on Jan. 18, then take a break and resume Jan. 26 and 27.
Stone was arrested on Jan. 6 of this year after what police said was an argument between neighbours that turned violent.
They said they responded to a home and found a man had been injured with an “edged weapon.” The victim was taken to hospital while Stone was arrested without incident and later released on bail. Court records show he is accused of breaching his release order on Jan. 14, but he remains on bail.
RCMP said the assault was an isolated incident between the neighbours.
