Two people dead in RV fire near Seven Mile Dam

Two people have been killed after a recreational vehicle burned near the Seven Mile Dam south of Trail.

RCMP said in a news release that Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue arrived Tuesday to find the RV fully engulfed. It had been parked in a remote location, and it was unknown if anyone was inside.

Firefighters put the fire out and prevented it from spreading to the forest. They then discovered the bodies of two people. RCMP were called to identify the two people and the circumstances surrounding the fire. They say the fire is not suspicious and the investigation has been turned over to the BC Coroners Service.

No information has been released about who the victims were.

“This is a deeply tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives,” said Cpl. Brett Urano, an RCMP spokesperson. “We also want to acknowledge the efforts of the fire crews who prevented further damage in what could have become a larger wildfire situation.”
