RCMP raid Waneta Junction, Robson properties

Several people have been arrested and a school was briefly placed on lockdown as police raided two rural properties in the Castlegar and Trail areas today as part of a drug trafficking investigation.

RCMP say they executed search warrants today in the 8600 block of Highway 22A at Waneta Junction and the 1000 block of Mountain Street in Robson.

They say “multiple” people were arrested at the Waneta property and one man was arrested at the Robson property. All were taken into custody without incident, but it wasn’t immediately clear if any are facing charges. Nor was it known if any drugs were seized.

Police said as a precaution, Robson Community School was briefly placed in a “hold and secure,” but there was no direct threat to students or staff. The measure was taken to ensure their safety, police said.
