City of Trail yard and garden waste collection begins April 15

The City of Trail will be collecting yard and garden refuse from Apr. 15-30, crews will make their rounds between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Residents must have their materials ready for collection by 7:00 a.m. on the date specified for their neighbourhood.

Pickup is scheduled for Glenmerry and Waneta for Apr. 15 and 16. For Miral Heights and Shavers Beach, it’s scheduled for Apr. 17.

In East Trail, crews will do their rounds on Apr. 18 and 19, and Apr. 22 and 23 in Sunningdale.

West Trail pickup is scheduled for Apr. 24 and 25, and Apr. 29 and 30 for Tadanac.

City crews will pass through each area once on the specified date, but branch bundles and clear bags will be collected separately and at different times.

Only yard and garden waste will be accepted; all grass and garden refuse must be bagged in clear bags, and branches tied and bundled to lengths not exceeding 6 feet.

Invasive weeds must be bagged separately in clear bags as well, which can be purchased from City Hall for $2 per bag.

Loose leaves or clippings will not be collected. The city asks that all waste items be placed on a residence’s property line in the alley (if applicable), adding that the maximum collection per residence is one cubic yard.
