Drivers suffer head injuries in Trail crash

Two local people involved in a crash in Trail were taken to hospital with head injuries following the first big dump of snow of the season.

RCMP say they were called around 9 a.m. Saturday to the collision between a small pick-up truck and a commercial transport truck in the 4800 block of Highway 3B.

A 26-year-old Fruitvale woman was driving her truck westbound when the vehicle began fishtailing and slid into the path of a 35-year-old Nelson man driving the transport truck.

Both vehicles ended up off the highway and both drivers were taken to hospital for assessment.

Police said the debris field from the incident was “extensive.” Traffic was delayed for several hours while road maintenance and two towing companies helped RCMP clear the roadway.

Poor weather and icy road conditions were factors.

RCMP say responders attending several other crashes over the weekend as well.
