20 fires sparked through West Kootenay

Recent lightning has done a number across the West Kootenay sparking a multitude of new wildfires.

They are all quite small at the time of writing.

Eighteen were lighting caused, one is believed to be human-caused and one is unknown.

The majority are located within the area between Castlegar and Valhalla Provincial Park.

Idaho Peak – Lightning caused – 0.02 hectare

Payne Bluffs – Lightning caused – 0.01 hectare

Mulvey Creek – Lightning caused  – 0.01 hectare

Mount Heimdal – Lightning caused – 0.01 hectare

Hougton Creek – Lightning caused – 0.10 hectare

Airy Creek – Lightning caused – 0.01 hectare

Cherry Tops – Lightning caused – o.o1 hectare

Baldface Mountain – Lightning caused – 0.32 hectare

Winlaw Creek – Lightning caused – 0.01 hectare

Sproule FSR – Lightning caused – 0.01 hectare

Slocan Ridge – Lightning caused – 0.01 hectare

Bentz peak – Lightning caused – 0.01 hectare
