New fall lecture series in Trail and Rossland

A new lecture series will be starting soon for history enthusiasts in Trail and Rossland.

Trail Museum and Archives Manager, Sarah Benson-Lord says it’s great to be able to offer this type of programming in the new space. “One of the responses we got quite frequently when we were planning and fundraising for the new facility was people wanted more opportunity to come and hear researchers and lecturers and historians present their work and naturally, this was the first thing we wanted to present to the community in our new facility.”

She says the first talk is called The Fascinating History of Early Trail: Some Trials and Tribulations of her Trailblazers from William Sullivan. “He did extensive research on the founding fathers of Trail, Colonel Eugene Topping and Frank Hannah, in addition to Frank’s ex-wife and Topping’s wife, Mary Jane Hannah. And it’s one of those relationships that we don’t have a lot of information about but he’s been able to find a little bit more that we’ve been unable to ever see before.”

The lecture series is a joint program with the Rossland Museum and Discovery Centre.  The first event is on September 12 at 6:00pm at the Trail River Front Centre and it’s recommended to register in advance. The next three lectures haven’t been announced yet. Two of the four events will be held in Rossland.
