Kootenay Pass bighorn sheep get a hand

A newly-cleared trail is making it easier for outdoors groups to help bighorn sheep on the Kootenay Pass.

On Saturday they moved a trailer-load worth of hay to a storage shed using a newly-cleared ATV trail.

The Nelson Rod and Gun Club’s Dan Danforth says it only took about two and a half hours.

The idea is that by supplementing their winter diet the sheep are less likely to be at risk on the highway.

The Trail Wildlife Association and Salmo Valley Seniors ATV Club were also involved.
