New design for aircraft would reduce approach height restrictions

A concoction of satellites and computers known as a required navigational procedure would be viable at West Kootenay Regional Airport.
Consultant Jim Gouk says the study by Jeppesen Aviation shows the RNP design essentially takes over the aircraft’s controls when approaching the airport.
This would bring the height restrictions down to one-thousand feet.
Gouk says the city will meet with regulatory bodies to discuss the next steps towards implementation.
