Columbia Basin Trust CEO dies suddenly

Columbia Basin Trust CEO Neil Muth has died suddenly.

“It is with heavy hearts that the family of Neil Muth … in conjunction with the Columbia Basin Trust announce his sudden passing,” Trust communications director Delphi Hoodicoff wrote in a brief statement Saturday evening.

“He will be remembered first and foremost as a loving husband and father.”

No circumstances of his passing were released.

He is survived by his wife Cathy and children John, Emily, and Hilary.

Hoodicoff said the Trust will make a full statement early next week.

Born and raised in Trail, Muth had been president and CEO of the Trust since 2005. Previously, he served as vice-president of the BC Investment Management Corporation.

He also operated his own consulting company and served in various positions with the BC Ministry of Finance and the New Zealand Treasury. Muth held a bachelor of arts in economics from the University of Victoria and a master of arts in economics from the University of BC.
