Lemon Creek fuel spill heads back to court

Not much happened during a first court appearance Tuesday over the Lemon Creek fuel spill.

But a Slocan Valley woman says she’s gratified the federal government has taken over the case.

Marilyn Burgoon launched a private prosecution against Executive Flight Centre and the BC government.

Burgoon says she’ll keep a watchful eye on the case which returns to court Oct. 11.

On Tuesday, lawyers briefly discussed disclosure of evidence during a conference call.

Eight counts have been laid under the fisheries and environmental management acts.

In 2013, 33,000 litres of jet fuel spilled into Lemon Creek.
