The new Auditor General for Local Government (AGLG) has released a damning report into the City of Rossland.
Following her lengthy audit Basia Ruta found examples where the city did not adequately protect the interests of its taxpayers.
She cited a lack of management controls and monitoring for project procurement between 2010 and 2012.
She concludes the city did not receive value for money on the Rossland Arena roof replacement project.
And because of the many financial shortcomings on the recent Columbia Ave – Washington St upgrades she says it is impossible to determine if taxpayers got value for money.
She also warns that the city remains vulnerable to repeat problems with some policies and procedures still exposing Rossland to financial risk.
