BCLC reports over $800 million in lottery payouts for 2023

Lottery players across the province have won big this year, with the BCLC paying out more than $859 million in prizes.  

According to BC Lottery Commission, they sold over 100 million winning tickets to customers at retail locations and through Playnow.com with the largest winning ticket, worth $55 million being won on Vancouver Island. 

 BCLC president and CEO Pat Davis says the lottery giant is thrilled to see how much revenue was generated because on-top of those winnings they were also able to give back to communities across the province. 

“We’re excited to look back and celebrate all the life-changing dreams that because realities for our lottery winners,” Davis says. “BCLC is proud to generate revenue for provincial services and initiatives that we all rely on, like healthcare, education and community programs.” 

So far, Davis says BCLC has generated $1.6 billion for the province bringing the 38 year total to $28 billion.  

In the Kootenays, $24 million was paid to players with 4 million winning tickets redeemed and two grand prize winners at $500,000 or more.
