Smoke Eater Ethan Willoughby honoured for community service

Trail Smoke Eater Ethan Willoughby is the BCHL’s Interior Conference winner of the Kyle Turris Community Award.

The award is given to players who go above and beyond in their community. Each team submits a nominee from their organization.

“Ethan was a big part of the community here in Trail over the past three seasons,” general manager and head coach Tim Fragle said in a news release.

“He participated in many different community events including Skate with Smokies, Smokies in our School programs, TSE Fan Club events and helping local minor hockey teams. His interactions with his outgoing personality, leadership and maturity made him a fan favourite in our community.”

Willoughby, 21, is a Chilliwack native. He was also an alternate captain this past season.
