Better safe than sorry.
A relatively small fire at Nelson’s Hume Hotel Sunday morning forced an evacuation.
Assistant Fire Chief Mike Daloise says when crews arrived they saw smoke coming out of the laundry room vents.
He says the building was emptied quickly and efficiently.
Nelson Police and hotel staff checked out all rooms for any guests that weren’t accounted for outside but there were no stragglers.
