Castlegar Council Candidate: Cherryl MacLeod

Cherryl McLeod says her number one priority if  elected to Castlegar city council is to listen and engage with citizens. She says she’s lived in the community for almost 40 years and is running for one of six seats in next month’s election.

McLeod demonstrates that she’s big believer in volunteer work. “I helped with fall fair on the weekend, I help with Kootenay Festival, I’m a Robson Recreation Society Director. I’ve been on the PAC for all the years my kids went to school. I’ve always been someone who I think if there’s something that need to be done or  worked on I’m more than willing to step in and hopefully see some change.”

She wants to see the live-streaming of council meetings return. “I want people to understand, I guess, how and why our tax money is being spent. As a councillor, my number one priority would be to listen and to engage citizens. One way I want to do that is by getting live-streaming of the council meetings back online.”

She spent many years working with School District 20 and is currently a child and youth care worker at the Robson Community School.

She also wants residents to know how much she cares for the community and would look forward to working with whoever gets elected to move Castlegar forward.
