More Evacuation Alerts lifted in RDCK

Good news from the Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK). Evacuation Alerts have been lifted in multiple areas,  including those affected by the Syringa Creek, Deer Creek, and McAurthur Creek wildfires.

All of Syringa Provincial Park and southeast along Lower Arrow Lake to the Hugh Keenleyside Dam in Robson; the area from south of Deer Park at Cayuse Creek, northwest along the lake to the end of Broadwater Road, and north to the end of Deer Creek Forest Service Road; and the Sheep Creek Road area southeast of Salmo are no longer under an Evacuation Alert.

The BC Wildfire Service has advised that although crews continue to action the fires, the danger to people and structures has diminished.

Chris Johnson, the RDCK Emergency Operations Centre Director says, “Firefighting crews have been doing a lot of great work in very difficult terrain, helped by some recent favourable weather conditions, and we—along with the people in these communities—are breathing a sigh of relief.”

The only remaining Evacuation Alert in the RDCK  affects Renata and the area southeast to Brooklyn due to the Bulldog Mountain wildfire.
