An evacuation order has been reduced to an alert near the McArthur Creek wildfire today. Residents in the Sheep Creek Road area, southeast of Salmo, have been on evacuation order since August 10. They are allowed to return home now, however, the Regional District of Central Kootenay advises residents and visitors to remain prepared to evacuate if required.
While Sheep Creek Road is open, a number of Forest Service Roads are closed due to the fire, which is currently estimated at 700 hectares in size.
