Fire Rescue and RCMP vehicles damaged in acid spill

Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue are still uncertain about the fate of their new engine that’s roughly a year old. Regional Fire Chief Dan Derby says it has been confirmed that damage was sustained during a sulfuric acid spill clean up.

He’s says the engine is currently still in use and undergoes a daily inspection, however he’s worried about impacts if it has to be removed from the fleet.

Chief Derby says one of their command vehicles was written off as well. The Trail RCMP say one of their police vehicles was damaged as well and they’ve been put on a waiting list for a replacement.

A fire command vehicle and police cruiser were also damaged.
