Statement from Manuel Achadinha, BC Transit President and Chief Executive Officer:
My deepest sympathies, thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the gentleman that passed away on January 12 after an incident with a BC Transit bus on January 9.
BC Transit takes safety very seriously and this incident will be investigated thoroughly. The local RCMP, BC Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement, and other partners are investigating the incident, and BC Transit is fully cooperating. An internal investigation has also been initiated by BC Transit.
As there is an on-going investigation, the RCMP will need to respond to further questions about the specific incident.
