Trigger the cat is back at his home in Smithers after taking an extended West Kootenay vacation.

The 5-year-old orange tabby got separated from his owner while camping in Fauquier in August.

Trigger managed to find his way to Nakusp where he was brought to the Protecting Animal Life Society.

President Linda Kendall says Trigger had a microchip which allowed PALS to reunite him with his owner in Smithers.

Kendall says Trigger’s story is a great example why it’s a good idea fit your pet with a microchip.
