The specialist underwater recovery team from the US who retrieved the bodies in the recent Slocan Lake canoeing tragedy are in our area again.
Gene and Sandy Ralston from Idaho are on Kootenay Lake trying to recover the body of the young man who died a week ago while diving from Starbelly Cliff near Gray Creek.
RCMP S/Sgt Rob Gollan says police divers had already spotted a body deep down with a special camera.
But it’s a delicate and precise operation to actually secure it.
Gollan says he believes a remote underwater vehicle with clamp and cable is being used.
