Water Smart program winds down

It’s the last hurrah for the Columbia Basin Trust’s Water Smart program.

It’s been around since 2009 and has helped 26 communities reduce their water consumption — in Kaslo’s case by 39 per cent.

But Trust water and environment manager Tim Hicks says it’s now winding down.

Hicks says the key things were finding and fixing leaking pipes and making irrigation more efficient.

He says water conservation will be part of the trust’s new climate action program to launch next year.
