Missing Trail woman’s body discovered

Trail RCMP are “regretfully confirming” that the body of a local woman missing since Sunday was found this morning.

Ida Cragnolini, 70, had been the subject of a massive search after failing to turn up at a friend’s home. She was walking there from her home at Waneta Junction, but was last seen near the Glenwood Motel. She suffered from dementia.

Cpl. Dan Moskaluk said Cragnolini was found outdoors, but didn’t specify exactly where.

He said there is no indication of foul play, but RCMP and the BC Coroners Services continue to investigate.

“RCMP and the Cragnolini family are deeply appreciative of the extensive search effort which was undertaken by several West Kootenay Search and Rescue teams and community volunteers,” Moskaluk said.

The search effort included technicians with the South Columbia, Rossland, Castlegar, Nelson, Creston, Grand Forks, Kelowna, Penticton Cranbrook/Kimberley and Osoyoos search teams, in addition to numerous community volunteers who assisted over a period of two days.
