Will strong strike mandate boost chances of teacher deal?

Does the strong full-scale strike mandate from BC teachers move the deadlocked process along?

That’s a question we put to Paul Boscariol President of the Nelson and District Teachers Association.

86% of teachers who voted the last two days are in favour of the escalated job action which could mean a full walk out.

But the BCTF wants the focus to be on getting a deal by month’s end.

As for no war chest in funds for strike pay Boscariol says that’s a non-factor and teachers are committed to taking a stand against the under-funding of public education.

Arrow Lakes schools are closed for a one day strike Wednesday.

Schools in Kootenay Columbia will shut Thursday while Kootenay Lake and Boundary schools are closed Friday.
