Castlegar releases 2016 statement of financial information

The City of Castlegar’s payroll was higher last year than in 2015 but expenses were down.

According to the statement of financial information the city had 11 employees who made more than $100,000, there was 8 the year before.

The city’s payroll was $4,113,366, that’s $66,957 more than the previous year.

Staff expenses were $106,240, down $85,713 from 2015.

The city saw a bit of change in 2016 in its statement of financial information for elected officials.

This was partly due to former councillor Kevin Chernoff’s passing and the subsequent election of Arry Dhillon later in the year.

The combined council payroll was $71,167, that’s $3,500 less than in 2015.

Expenses also dropped from $42,523 to just under $37,956.

For the most part salaries remained unchanged with councillors making $9,333 for the year and $18,667 for the mayor.

Kevin Chernoff made $4,667 before his passing and Dhillon made just over $1,167.
