Is it time for Nelson to have a Social Development Officer?
City Councilor Michael Dailly says that’s what he’s hearing from the various social service agencies in town.
He says the person could work specifically on enhancing community development work.
For example that could mean running a proposed hub for volunteerism, grant applications, and being the city’s go-to person for the social service sector.
Dailly says the idea has only recently come up but the salary for an officer could be off-set by the grants they secure.
