What began as a culture of dedicated listening in Japan has inspired listening spaces around the world, including Nelson’s own pop-up listening club. Grid Listening Club, a musical project founded by music lovers Kasteniede & MP, draws inspiration from Japan’s listening bars where music takes centre stage.

Whether reading, sketching, knitting, moving, or simply listening, Grid Listening Club 2.0 invites you to experience electronic music beyond the club.

The performers

Sunny Acres is a multidisciplinary artist, music producer and DJ. Elements of house, drum & bass, downtempo and the ghosts of IDM find their way into his productions. Sunny Acres takes listeners on an exploratory journey, weaving together textures, tempos, moods and melodies. At Grid Listening Club 2.0, he will perform a live set featuring material from his upcoming album Fugitive Lights.

Kasteniede is the co-founder of the Grid Listening Club. Active in electronic music since the 2000s, he takes an open-minded and eclectic approach to DJing and music creation. Working primarily with hardware, he explores new ways of building sets and creating music. For Grid Listening Club 2.0, he will deliver a hybrid DJ and live set that gradually evolves from ambient soundscapes into deep dub techno.

MP is the co-founder of Grid Listening Club. Active as a DJ since the 2000s, the junglist hosted a radio show for a decade, where her journey began. The storyteller curates music, creates mixes and organizes music-focused events. For Grid Listening Club 2.0, MP will present a DJ set rooted in dub, a defining element of her musical aesthetic.
