Greater Trail decides on option for future water treatment

There is now more focus to the RDKB’s liquid waste management plan when addressing future levels of treatment.

The steering committee has decided to support the option of upgrading the existing Columbia Pollution Control Centre – which currently discharges primary treatment effluent into the Columbia River.

To meet regulatory obligations the RDKB has to move to secondary treatment.

Here’s Trail City Council Robert Cacchioni.

Upgrading the Centre has an estimated cost of 26 million dollars compared to $36.5 million for a new facility.

The option now has to go to the technical advisory committee and through public consultation before anything is confirmed by year’s end.
