IIO ponders probe before more armed robbery information

Nelson Police are unable to give any further information at this stage regarding the arrest of a man and woman following Friday afternoon’s armed robbery.

That’s while they await the outcome of a probe by the Independent Investigation Office or IIO because the man sustained serious injury during the course of police action.

After the robbery of the Nelson District Credit Union the couple were chased and located on a bridge in the Bonnington area.

The man did not comply with a command to stop and jumped 30 to 40 feet from the bridge.

He’s in hospital.

Nelson Police Chief Wayne Holland told us Friday that money had been recovered.
