Man killed in motorcycle crash near Castlegar

A 62-year-old man has died following a motorcycle crash east of Castlegar on Saturday.

Castlegar RCMP said officers responded to the single vehicle collision on Highway 3 shortly after 7 p.m. that day.

First responders attended the scene and located a motorcycle with significant damage, along with the lone rider, who had succumbed to his injuries.

Police said early indications suggest the motorcyclist encountered wildlife that had entered the roadway. Investigators believe the rider tried to avoid hitting the animal, causing the motorcycle to leave the highway and enter the ditch.
