Nelson can export its GHG reduction success

The city of Nelson says there is scope to export the expertise they’ve garnered from their highly successful greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction strategy.

The city will achieve their first 5-year target of a 25% decline in their corporate GHG emissions ..thus savings tens of thousands of dollars a year.

Nelson Hydro GM Alex Love says they would like to offer the knowledge to other smaller communities in the region.

He says having a proven model is key.

 

Nelson has addressed big energy savings in city owned buildings and achieved major buy-in from staff.

This in addition to their award winning Ecosave residential retrofit program.
