Rossland residents will be required to reduce outdoor water use beginning Monday, July 27, as the city implements Stage 2 water restrictions in response to prolonged hot, dry weather.
The restrictions are intended to help protect the community’s water supply while reducing demand on the city’s water system. The city said conserving potable water can also help defer costly infrastructure upgrades and lower water treatment and pumping costs.
The Stage 2 restrictions apply to residential outdoor water use. Separate restrictions are in place for industrial, commercial, golf course and institutional operations under Schedule A of the City’s Outdoor Water Use Regulation Bylaw No. 2696.
Residents are encouraged to review the bylaw to ensure they comply with the restrictions.
Penalties for violating the bylaw start at $100.
