West Kootenay transit routes to see service changes June 29

West Kootenay Transit riders will see several route and schedule changes beginning June 29.

According to BC Transit, the adjustments include schedule changes across the system, modified service on several routes and changes to transit service in Blueberry Creek.

It said service levels on Route 14 Blewett and Route 20 Slocan Valley have been adjusted to better align with demand.

In Nakusp, on-request service will now be available Mondays and Wednesdays. Additional trips have also been added to Route 51 Hot Springs and Route 52 Slocan.

Blueberry Creek service currently provided by Route 98 Columbia Connector will also be replaced by Route 34 Kinnaird/Southridge. Route 98 will continue serving Castlegar, including stops at the Community Complex and Selkirk College.

The changes coincide with the transition of BC Transit’s operations and maintenance facility to 1175 Lower China Creek Rd. in Genelle, which will serve as a hub for transit service in the Lower Columbia region.

Updated schedules are available in BC Transit’s latest Riders Guide and on the agency’s website.
