Smokies alumnus Michaluk heading to Bowling Green

Trail Smoke Eaters alumnus Cooper Michaluk has committed to NCAA Division I Bowling Green State University for the upcoming season.

Michaluk spent the 2025-26 season with the Smoke Eaters, where the team says he developed into a dependable presence between the pipes with his calm demeanor, athleticism, and ability to make key saves in critical moments. His work ethic and commitment to his development helped earn him the opportunity to continue both his academic and hockey career at the Division I level, the team said in a news release.

“We’re extremely proud of Cooper and excited to see him earn this opportunity at Bowling Green,” said Smoke Eaters general manager and head coach Eric Thurston.

“He worked incredibly hard during his time here and consistently showed the professionalism and compete level needed to succeed at the next level. Bowling Green is getting a goalie who gives his team a chance to win every night.”
