A semi-trailer struck the canopy of the Petro-Canada station in Warfield on Wednesday morning.
BC Emergency Health Services said an ambulance was dispatched to the scene shortly before noon, but no one had to be taken to hospital.
The gas station and store are closed until further notice.
In a Facebook post Saturday, the store’s management said demolition “is going well but it’s going to be a slow process … Unfortunately, it’s too soon to project our re-opening date.”
They said the canopy was built in 1988/89, and the store opened in May 1989. Hiltech Contracting is looking after the demolition.
A sign beneath the canopy indicated its height as 13 feet (four metres).
