Provincial budget consultation team to make stops in the Kootenays

The province’s Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services will make stops in Cranbrook and Nelson as part of Budget 2026 consultations.

This comes as the committee made up of NDP and Conservative MLAs begins its annual mission to gather public input on the next provincial budget.

In-person meetings are set to start in June, with supplemental virtual meetings alongside them.

Public feedback will be used to make recommendations for the 2026 provincial budget.

Those interested in participating in the in-person meetings are asked to register here by April 11 at 2 p.m. (Pacific time).

The province will begin accepting written feedback in June.

In-person consultation sessions are planned in the following communities:

  • Victoria
  • Surrey
  • Vancouver
  • Courtenay
  • Terrace
  • Quesnel
  • Fort St. John
  • Vernon
  • Penticton
  • Nelson
  • Cranbrook
