Advanced voting for Fruitvale by-election opens next week

Eligible electors in the Village of Fruitvale will head to the polls on April 5 to cast their votes in a by-election to fill one council member position. 

General voting will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Fruitvale Memorial Centre. 

Advance voting opens at 8 a.m. on March 26 at the Memorial Centre as well, with polls closing at 8 p.m. 

A special voting opportunity for residents of Mountain Side Village and Beaver Valley Senior Citizen Manor will be available on April 4. 

In Mountain Side Village, voting will be open from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 135 Mountain Side Village. For Beaver Valley Senior Citizen Manor, voting will be open from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at 1947 Beaver Street. 

Resident electors must produce two pieces of identification (at least one with a signature). 

Photo identification is not required, but the identification must confirm both residency and identity. 

The three candidates vying for the position are: 

  • Karen Halifax 
  • Terry Skarbo 
  • Jimmy Swanson
