Village of Fruitvale declares new Mayor by acclamation

Wes Startup has been declared the Mayor of Fruitvale by acclamation, with the by-election to fill one council member position also set for April 5.

Startup was elected by acclamation on March 10. He will replace former Mayor Steve Morissette, who chaired his last council meeting in November after securing his position as the Kootenay-Monashee MLA in October’s provincial election.

A by-election to fill one council member position will take place on April 5. The three candidates vying for the position are:

  • Karen Halifax
  • Terry Skarbo
  • Jimmy Swanson
