Investigation Continues into ‘Significant’ Power Outage

An investigation is ongoing into the cause of a significant power outage through many parts of the West Kootenays early this morning.

More than ten thousand FortisBC customers were left without power until just before 2:30am.

The bulk of those affected were in Castlegar, Robson, Brilliant and Rossland

As of 7:30 am, the power had yet to be restored to 39 customers in Ootischenia, 99 in Warfield and 73 in South Slocan.

 

**UPDATE**

Power was restored to Warfield at 7:45am, but an outage affecting just under 1,000 customers in Oasis and Birchbank is now being reported.

**UPDATE**

Ootischenia’s 39 customers got their power back at 8:12am, There’s still 666 customers without power in East Trail, Oasis and Birchbank.
