Climate change conference planned for Castlegar

A major conference is being planned that’s aimed at putting our region on the map for tackling climate change.

The West Kootenay EcoSociety is hosting the renewable energy and energy efficiency conference in Castlegar in September.

Executive director Montana Burgess says our communities can join other much bigger cities who’ve pledged to get off fossil fuels by mid-century.

Burgess says the event will help bolster our region’s reputation as a tourism destination and boost green job creation.
