Two local fire chiefs retire

Today represents a changing of the guard for a pair of local fire departments.

Castlegar chief Gerry Rempel is working his last shift today.

He’ll be replaced by deputy chief Sam Lattanzio.

Kootenay Boundary Fire Rescue chief Terry Martin is also calling it a career.

His replacement is deputy chief Dan Derby.
