SD 20 board chair mulls freeze on US field trips

The Kootenay Columbia school board chair feels field trips to the US should stop until the proposed travel ban is better understood.

Teri Ferworn says the district’s students are diverse.

Ferworn will pitch the idea to trustees at next month’s meeting with hopes of a establishing a policy to freeze such field trips.

She adds the Victoria school district has adopted a similar policy on a temporary basis.
