SD-8 talks school scenarios with Nelson

The public in Nelson has been given their first look at how various school review scenarios have been ranked by SD-8 officials.

Overall the top option would be to close Trafalgar Middle School, all elementaries would become grades K to 6 and LV Rogers would be a 7 to 12 school.

Closing South Nelson and rebuilding Trafalgar is the next highest ranked option.

But these are just two of several scenarios that will need to be considered as part of a district wide plan to address significant under-utlization, ageing buildings and to save money.

Other communities will learn about their scores in the coming week including Creston tonight.

After public feedback the board could sign off on a plan for schools by May.
