Interfor reports earnings boost

A boost in net income for Interfor the company which owns mills in Castlegar and Grand Forks among its expanding portfolio.

They earned $27.5 million in the first quarter.

That’s over 12 million more than in the same period last year.

Lumber production in the first quarter was a record 495 million board feet, up 27% over the same period of 2013.

The company credits strategic capital investments over the past several years and increased production capacity from the six mills they recently acquired in the US southeast.
