Come down to Gyro Park, Trail on Thursday, June 26 at 6:15 pm to 8 pm to see the Trail Maple Leaf Band and Trail Pipe Band with B. McJones Highland Dancers perform for the first of many Thursday night Kootenay Savings Music in the Park!

Every Thursday until August 14, The Trail & District Arts Council is excited to present a range of great musicians at Kootenay Savings Music in The Park. With two acts per night, it’s the perfect opportunity for all the family to get together outside and listen to great live music in beautiful Gyro Park.

Kicking off the season on June 26, are local favourites the Trail Maple Leaf Band playing concert band pieces, show tunes and movie medleys and marches. They will be followed by the Trail Pipe Band, who will be joined by guests the B. McJones Highland Dancers for Scottish piping and dancing.

Under the direction of Joseph S. Fuoco, the Trail Pipe Band has been delighting local audiences for over 100 years performing at indoor and outdoor concerts, civic parades, and special functions. The 30 to 40 band members play concert band pieces, show tune medleys and marches.

The Trail Pipe Band, a staple of the area for over 100 years, will engage the audience playing pipe band favourites from their huge repertoire. The tartan kilts they wear today are modeled after the uniform of the Scots Guards: Royal Stuart tartan kilts and plaids; with green tunics for the pipers and red tunics for the drummers.

Joining them for a few tunes are the B. McJones Highland Dancers from Nelson, who teach students of all ages to appreciate the joys of Highland Dance.

So, bring a lawn chair and your dancing shoes for a Summer of live music in the park!

Admission is by donation – $3 minimum suggested. Or support the Trail Arts Council’s programming by buying a Season Pass for the whole summer for $30! Please note that entrance for Music in the Dark is $10.
